Full Version: HP-9810A needs repair

Recently, I found an HP-9810A in overall good shape. It
is quite dusty, but works OK, as far as I can tell.
However, on the top LED row (the z-line), one segment
of each LED (it's the bottom left segment) is not functioning. Since it's the same segment on each LED I
guess some driver transistor is dead.

Could anybody please point out how to repair this? Or
how to find out what really is wrong? Thank you very much.

Sorry, no ftp server.

The patent number is 3.859.635 and the title is simply "Programmable Calculator".

The document is 411 pages long and includes schematics, hardware description and ROM listings - enough to build yourself a 9810A.

Some versions of Netscape seem to have problems with such large files, so I'd recommend the Internet Explorer in this case (I prefer Netscape normally ... ) .

My connection should be fast enough (T3, T4, T5, T6 ??? - anyway, it should be no problem, it's the University connect
BTW: I'd like to know, how long the transfer took.

Hi Reinhard,

I got a non-working 9810A recently, so this document could be of interest for me, too;-)

I downloaded it in about 12 minutes, thanks to DSL:-)))

Hi Reinhard,
Thank you for your help. Downloading the file took
al little less than 20 minutes (512Kbit DSL). I guess
printing and understanding will take a little longer.
Anyway, I'll let you know how I did...

Regards,
Thomas

It will take me about 3 days (28.8 dialup -- bad lines) so... I'll get started now.

Maybe it'll be cheaper sending the manual on CD...

Raymond

Hi Steve

If you didn't get it til now, I can send you the file on CD free of charge.

Just email me your address.
