Hello:

My HP48GX says "48-R' Copyright 1993. What is the relevance, if any of the version numbers?

Check the FAQ at hpcalc.org for a list of HP48 ROM versions and their differences. Look for question 3.5 What bugs exist in the various versions of the HP48?

Your ROM is version R, which was the latest one produced.
