Hey folks,
I ran across a post somewhere that stated there have been several iterations of the HP 33s calculator. What is the condition of the most current version (bug wise, LCD wise, tiny decimal point wise, etc) and how do I tell which version is which? Thanks for the help in advance.

Joe Edward

Hi Joe. I believe that if you find a 33s with date code 524 or newer you should get the new and improved model with the bug fixes.

Happy Computing!

Regards,

John

My 33S with 442xxxxx has the poor LCD. My 527xxx unit has the new and (really) improved LCD and no bugs as far as I can tell.

My 51500163 has the improved LCD but retains all the bugs.

You have to test it by operating it through the blister pack. Difficult but not impossible.

You need to run the H.MS DMS routine (check to see if it mishandles negative values) and the Polar-Rectangle routine (test to see if it gets confused going from 90degrees r=1 to X,y and tehn back---if it gives 270 degrees it hjas the bug.
