I'm a bit confused about the different types of batteries that can be used in a 41c. I just acquired a 41c, and it's battery pack has the short cells (1/2 N's??) with the rectifier built into the end of the pack. I've seen photo's of 41c battery packs that use cells that run the full length of the pack, with no rectifier (obviously these would have to be externally charged)..are these N cells? Were these full length cell packs an aftermarket item, and can anyone tell me where I can get one?

This sounds like the optional HP-82120A multipurpose rechargeable battery pack. You need a HP-82059B (110 Vac) or HP-82066B (220 Vac)
charger for this pack.

This is the standard battery pack that was supplied with every HP-41. It is designed to take non-rechargeable cells, so there is no need for a rectifier.
Some people put NiCd or NiMH cells in the standard pack and recharge them on an external (commercially available) charger.
However, there was a discussion on this very point just a few days ago and the consensus was that its not worth the bother. Just put alkaline N-size cells and change them once every 12 to 18 months.
