how do i send a photo with my post new message to this website

Hi, David;

you could read this page under Link to Images. In brief:

- the image file must exist somewhere in the www;

- in your post, where you want the image to figure, use:

[img: the complete www address ]
There are many ellucidating examples in the MoHPC you can see at the page pointed by the above link.

Best regards.

Luiz (Brazil)

Hi David,

In addition to what Luiz suggests, you also need a picture "host". This can be "shutterfly" or any other number of hosting services. If you use shutterfly, once you have a photo uploaded, then preview it, and right-click the preview to see "properties" and you will see a url available. Just copy and paste this url into the post here, using the formatting codes that Luiz pointed out to you, and voila!

Dave Hicks can also host the picture(s), as described on the advanced formatting techniques page:

If you don't have a place to host your images, you can send them to me and I will place it in the guest directory. (This is actually preferred since I won't have to worry about the images moving or disappearing in the future and leaving broken links.) The best way to do this is to name the images with your last name followed by numbers like hicks1.jpg, hicks2.jpg etc. You may FTP these to the incoming directory at ftp.hpmuseum.org. (Make sure to ftp image files in binary mode and please try to keep scans under 100K.) Send me an email letting me know that they are there and I will move them to the guest directory so you can refer to them in your files like [img:http://www.hpmuseum.org/guest/hicks1.jpg] (Note that the incoming directory is write-only so it's normal to not be able to see you files after uploading them.)
