Good morning Will,

Yes, I have an MY 12c :

S/N : MY83605999

Bought in 1999 in the US.

Power = 3 batteries never changed since purchase

Paperback (not spiral bound) manual

Used as backup of my Hp 80.

I'm not an expert of the painted v/s engraved keys but looking closely to the calc doesn't reveal an "overpainted keyboard"...maybe it's just painted...

All legends are readable and centered on keys.

Keys don't rattle much. Case doesn't squeak although the calc fell down on the floor quite a couple of times.

Along with the 41 CX, it's the only LCD modern calc I own.

Sorry for the lack of picture but I still have to enter the digital photography era.

Best regards from France.

I have two HP-12c calculators (found dumped on a clearance sale shelf at Wal-Mart). One is a Malaysian unit with the original three-button-cell design, and the other is a Chinese unit with the single lithium coin cell.

In my honest opinion, the Malaysian unit is definitely better. My only complaint about it is that some of the painted-on labels on the keys aren't perfectly aligned (I really miss the double-shot keys). Otherwise it's pretty well put together, and the keys feel almost the same as my old HP-15C.

The Chinese unit has more misaligned painted key labels, has more key rattle, sharp edges of untrimmed excess plastic (flashing) on the edges & corners of the molded outer case, some of the keys don't click properly when pressed down, and others have a very loud annoying "pop" when released.
