Any suggestions on the best way to glue back down the aluminum reference plate on the back of a 15C. Do I try a full removal and re-glue, or just repair the edges. Both Sigma and Matrix sides are lifted up. There is only a minor bend, I think it would glue down. Any recommendations of type of glue to use?

Thanks

When it's just a one corner lift, superglue has worked for me about 75% of the time.

When all attempts to glue fail, you can try this:http://www.hpmuseum.org/cgi-sys/cgiwrap/hpmuseum/archv013.cgi?read=40910

Hi Mike, and Hi Randy (tnx for finding my old thread w/your answers!)

Yes, I successfully repaired it---but there are some things that I did wrong:

1. Do not use acetone (what was I thinking!) for the glue removal--the case is styrene, which dissolves in acetone. Use denatured alchohol and be patient.

2. In "peeling" the aluminum up, I created ridges in the aluminum, which are still visible---I was a bit impatient, and I used a very thin (but not thin enough!) knife as a wedge--driving through the crack as I wet it with alchohol. Be very patient with the peeling up part---don't peel! Let it soak for a loooong time---maybe randy can weigh in on this.

3. I used the 3m "carpet tape" to put everything back on--and that worked well---except I lost a couple of feet---because the residue of the old glue "slimed" in contact with the 3m adhesive---and so the feet slid off. The rubber feet which I had thoroughly cleaned of residue stayed on.

4. I have some photos of this calc around--email me and I'll send them back at you.
