I have a HP 41CV that I purchased in 1983. Used it until I purchased a HP 32Sii. I left the 41 in a drawer with the batteries in it. I went to use the 41 and 1 battery had started to leak, for how long I don't know. It was only one battery on the left side if you are looking at the back. I took the battries out and cleaned the it out, but never did by new batteries to see if it still worked. This was back in 1993 or 1994. Last week I found the 41 again so I went a bought batteries, put them in and tried to turn it on and nothing happened.

Is there a trick to getting it to turn on after laying dormant for so long. Do you think the leaking battery damaged it. Is it worth sending to someone to try and fix it.

Thank you for your help

Hi;

it's more likely that your HP41CV needs service. Battery leakage is dangerous to the conductive components. There is a link yuo may want to try:

Fix that calc

It seems they are the closest choice you have.

Success.
