I think there is something artistic about old mechanical calculators.

This Odhner was made nearly 75 years ago and is almost mint condition. Probably will last another 100 years, with ease.

Yes, and you'll notice that:

  • It doesn't look like a mobile phone
  • The keyboard is not arranged in a chevron
  • The keyboard is a little over-engineered and still retains its original "clunk".
Definitely not a fashion victim. . .

I have a Triumphator mechanical calculator that I use from time to time. It certainly is not pocketable as it weighs about 20 lbs (10 kilos)! But it certainly makes you appreciate the engineering that went in to building it.

Simply gorgeous! Where did you get it, and for how much?
