This Sharp pocket computer is very interesting. It was manufactured with the sole purpose of being programmed with custom ROM. These were mainly used by businesses with very specialized purposes. The one below was originally used to calculate car liscense plate fees.

It does nothing, without a program memory. Most have ROM but you can get these with RAM. If you have a RAM module, these can be made very useful by reprogramming them.

I have reprogrammed this one to simply return the function key name, when the key is pressed. Now that I know the process, I'm going reprogram it for something more useful.

Hi,

For anyone interested, here's the SHARP PC-1270 BASIC Compiler manual (in PDF format, 55 pages, 140 Kb):

Sharp PC-1270 BASIC Compiler V3.3

Best regards from V.

Thanks, I already have a copy of the compiler manual.

The compiler is nice for large programs. I just program in BASIC, since I can't find a compiler. PROMSoft does not sell the compiler and Sharp has discontinued that product.

Anyone have a compiler or know where one can be obtained?
