Hi;

I got the chance to have a new HP49G in hands and I could see the following:

- both User's and Advanced guide included (as already mentioned by other contributor);
- new connection cable has more lenght and comes with two adapters: an HP48-compatible (I'm not sure about the HP39/40) and a DB9-compatible;
- 1.18 O.S. already installed (last supported version)
- I played with it a little and felt it faster than an earlier one I have since 2000 (at least screens are built in a flash); did anyone check for it?

All the rest is the same, but I felt the keys a bit "though" when pressing. I do not see it with good eyes. The only thing that quickly called my attention was the speed. I thought it was because of the O.S. version but it seems it isn't. I put both with the same O.S. and the earlier one "paints" the screen slower than the new one. Would it mean new LCD drivers? If so, this sort of enhancement was added probably after ACO got closed.

Just a few impressions of mine.

Additional comments?

New hp49g?

Serial number?

J.Manrique - #1077 HPCC Member

Hola, J. Manrique;

At least this unit was bought recently and I am about to become its actual owner, it will depend on a few arrangements...

Serial # is CN1450xxxx (chinese unit)

Maybe it's not exactly a "new" unit, but I was the one who opened it: a sealed blister. Manuals are still originaly shrink-wrapped. It is with me since then, and I intend to keep it.

Does the partially serial # helps? If you need the complete # I'll e-mail it to you.

Best regards.

Hello Luiz,

C145xx is from China, done 45th week of 2001, isn't it? So, yes, it isn't a new model.

This year, every hp49 I've sold came with the two manuals, and pocket manual, and the accesories you've mentioned (cable+ hp48 adaptor + PC DB9 adaptor).

From our national distributor I know that there aren't more hp49 calcs untill May or June. Let's see if that calcs are «new» or not.

Best regards,
