When I was younger, these port extenders were relatively common amongst die-hard HP-41 users.
A few people from the CCD club had either the one from CT or a similar type, I don't recall the brand.

But since my I had (and still have) the MBK ProfiSetII RAM box, there was no need for me to get that CT device back then.
If I had known how rare they're now, I'd bought one, of course;-)

Raymond

Before you ask: The ProfiSet RAMBox existed long time *before* the W&W RAMBox. Actually, the W&W Box OS was developed with an MBK ProfiSet.

The other one is the AME Design Port-X-Tender. I have 2 of these and they are a valuable item in terms of what they can do.

The Port-X-Tender also has dip switches so you can turn ports on and off as needed.

Hi Chris,

many thanks for the enlightment.

BTW: Do you recall the plug-in miniature light for the HP-41?
I was offered such a thing by my favourite HP dealer back in the early eighties. It consists of a printer plug with a switch, a flexible arm, and of course the light at the end of the arm.

Hi Raymond,

No idea what that item was. This sounds like a reading light type thing maybe so you can use the machine in low light?

Sorry can't help you more.

Chris

The Port-X-Light was also made by AME in a fit or "madness"
<grin>... it worked, but did suck battery power from the
HP41 itself. Same time frame as the Port-X-Tender - right
around 1982. They sold both like hotcakes at the Philly
PPC Calculator Conference that year.

I have a 8 port Xtender made by SCIP, Paris. It also includes three little 1.5V batteries.
Really helpful ,powerful, ... for an HP-41C with 4 Memory Modules, 1 X-Functions, 2 X-Memories, 1 Time, 1 card reader...
