Full Version: Updating Prime

When I try updating the HP Prime according to the directions I fond here I get an error....


1) I downloaded all the new files
2) I installed the new emulator
3) I installed the new connectivity kit
4) I hook up my prime, right click, select Update Firmware, and immediately the calculator "HP Prime Recover Mode v13." and the only thing I can do is press the reset button. What am I doing wrong?

Did you unzip the firmware files and copy them to the folder \Users\your name\Documents\HP Connectivity Kit\Firmware ?

I had the same problem. Make sure you use a USB port, not a hub, open the CK, let windows find the "device", let the CK find the 5447 Prime firmware update and install it (in a subdirectory below the CK), reboot the computer, make sure the physical Prime gets recognized, only then update firmware.

Good luck. I managed to totally mess the boot loader, and needed to run the Prime recovery kit.

Yes, I copied the files to the right location. First 2 or 3 times i ran the firmware update it said no update found, now I just get the error.

I had that problem on a USB 3.0 port and Win7.

After I connected the calc to a USB 2 port, the system loaded (or installed) some drivers.

I was then able to upgrade the calc without any further problem.

I'm still having the same result (failed updating, error 104, frozen Prime). I tried a USB 2.0 port but no change (using my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop, Win 7). Tim already suggested I call the support line. I guess that will be the next step.

Hmmmm. That describes my situation too. I'll try on my wife's laptop and see what happens.

I also have a pavilion dv7 and I couldn't update. Today, i try to update in a Acer, and it works. HP PRIME UPDATE DON'T WORK ON HP LAPTOP! This is ridiculous. Before calling hp support, try to update on a different computer.

Sorry Less you met this problem, I've just done the upgrade without any throuble, hope after the "recovery mode" you succedded in it!
