Here are some details about the HP Prime hardware, for those who are interested :)

Unlike the fx-CP400 which gave us a hard time (easy when you know the trick... ;) ), the HP Prime opens quite "easily" and reveals us its hardware:

We notice the references which were already at the back of our prototype: EA656MB for the motherboard and EA656KB for the keyboard and power board.

They include:

  1. Touch Color Display 3.5" diagonal with a resolution of 320x240px
  2. Processor (U101): Samsung S3C2416XH-40 - ARM9 clocked at 400 MHz maximum.
  3. RAM Memory (U200): Hynix H5MS2562NFR - 32 MB
  4. Flash Memory (U201): Samsung K9F2G08U0C-SCB0 - 256 MB
  5. Battery: Li-Ion 3.7V, 1500 mAh (5.55Wh)

In short, a fairly standard and simple architecture around three main distinct chips: RAM/ROM CPU.

    In short, only documented and standard chips instead of proprietary ones or hidden in an ASIC, which is a nice change from the TI-Nspire or even more from the fx-CP400 :)

    This calculator is positioning itself as a potential competitor to the TI-Nspire CX, as we wrote in our hands-on review (Omni topic) and the hardware confirms this idea, despite a slight weakness in the RAM amount.
    In fact, some people already think of a Prime emulator on the Nspire and a Nspire one on the Prime, given the similar architecture! (But first, the machine will have to be open to native development ;) )

    I see two pads that say BUZZ100 with [+] [-], I think we can connect a Buzzer -))

    and two pads that say UART_RX/TX (RS232?)

    Great for the buzzer and the UART.

    But before trying anything with UART, we'll need the ground... could anybody find it?

    Indeed, a buzzer could be there, but I'm not sure to see the point if it's not controllable anyway (even with Native code... ?)

    However, we'll see for RS232 ... :)

    Well, maybe BAT- or BUZZ- could work... idk :x

    On HP calcs with a buzzer, there is a BEEP( command.

    It is almost a certainty that the negative side of the lithium polymer cell is the system ground.

    The serial rx and tx signals will most likely be CMOS logic levels, not TIA/EIA-232, so a level shifter will be required.
