Anyone seen this Hayes Surveying module? Looks like it has a cable coming out of the top...did it have an interface?

I'm just curious and looking for more info...anyone have it?

In my opinion it's an interface made to pilot a theodolit.

gene - except for the name on the cover; the book in it's layout and construction and the data collector that the 41 is attached to look like the old "co-op 41 surveying module" that was sold by tds. the tds manual was written by ted wadman of "an easy course in programming the hp-41" fame. - d

Yes it is a CO-OP module and interface manual.

Chris,
You are right, the picture on the cover shows the CO-OP data collector. I have one of this, it uses an IL Module to connect to the 41 (built into the case of the data collector, not a stand-alone IL module). But I think the code to operate it and do the surveying calculations was in a seperate module. The only communication path seems to be IL, so no code for the 41 can be stored in the POD. And maybe there were different ones. If I remeber right, You have one of these modules?

Another data collector module, then. I thought, I was
wrong, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, that the module we were
talking about was similar.

Now anm I getting confused ... ?

I have a:

SUN SHOOTER 41TM
Co-op Module

It has a sticker on it: 8K#61786

Checking the module the lower 4K is XROM NO.=31 and has 54 fuctions, XROM 31,00 is: CO-OP ROM

XROM 31, O1 is SC

checksum = 292 HEX

Checking the module the upper 4K is XROM NO.=4 and has 57 fuctions, XROM 31,00 is: SUN

XROM 31, O1 is SOLAHP

checksum = 187 HEX

Is this the same thing?

peter;

my co op 41 surveying module calls itself rom #10 and the particular instrument module which i have, that also contains the alignment/offset and vertical curve programs, calls itself rom #12. i believe that the sunshooter was a more general and stand alone set of programs and was not intended to work with mine or the plotter module. mine are both dated 1986 and require a cx to function.

you are right; no code can be stored in the data collector but the programs were pretty complete, and only occasionally clunky, so you had 2.2k for what little extra you needed. data storage in extended is 299 points. the d. c. that you have could store the northing and easting for 4606 points, less if you want elevations, a raw data file, or a note/descripter. so maybe minus a bit but plus whatever was in extended. i kept my control file in extended.

one of the coolest things about the co op is that you can send data files straight from extended to mass storage. if someone gets the book i'll see if i can print out a program or two so you can key it in and play with it.

btw: have you seen tds/co.cp.'s new handheld? coke bottle shape like a husky in a dam near bullet proof body with a multi line touch screen and keys that feel like a new 41. if any new handheld could be described as sexy....
