As we know, there are two versions of the HP48GII.

Is there a foolproof manner to determine which version a particular unit is - sight unseen - such as by SKU or Serial number?

Thanks,

TomC

Not sure if this would help, but if the package indicates there are 4 batteries included, you got the new model. The older 48GII uses 3 batteries.

Hi.

I must confess I was not aware of the two HP48GII models, I was taken by surprise with that! I have one of each HP48GX/G+ and HP48GII (I had an HP48G but I sold it some ten years ago). About the two versions, would the first ones be related to the HP48G/G+/GX? I mean, what are the differences?

I'd surely like to know more about these versions.

Thanks!

The first version of the HP-48G-II was released in 2003 and the revised version was released in 2008.

The first version has 128KB RAM (I think) and a serial port

while the second version has 256KB RAM, a serial port and a USB port

Hi.

Thanks for pointing that out.

Mine is the first version (128KRAM, about 84KRAM user accessible) and one serial port. I actually had no idea about the new one. Seems to me I was somewhere else when the second version HP48GII was introduced...

Thanks again!
