I've a HP 30b.

Some of my friends take my calculator and I've to switch to the ALG mode for them to operate (I taught two guys successfully how to use RPN!). Although, it is not very difficult to do so, I would appreciate having a key assigned to a program, to switch, to and fro — from ALG to RPN and RPN to ALG.

You can do this on a stock HP-30b using the "macros" capabilities. Essentially, program one button (shifted or not) to be ALG and one to be RPN. Wha-lah! :-)
