Full Version: [WP-34s] 4 x IR! What about V2? ;-)

I now have successfully converted four WP-34s machines to IR-enabled status. Two of them being 30b's and two 20b's. The latter looking considerably better with the overlay on their black front cover. And although I have some thin wire, caps, resistors, crystals and diodes left, I've run out of calcs... ;-)

I still have a WP-34s V2 with overlays, though. Is it already or will it once be possible to have IR printing on the V2 firmware? I don't want to change it to V3 for obvious (overlay-) reasons.

A back port is certainly possible but time is scarce...

I will most gladly wait - as I even don't have hands enough to operate my four printing WP-34s's at the same time. ;-)

Do you really want to stick with V2 and miss all the new features of V3 just because you would have to exchange a few key labels?

In my opinion you can't expect from the WP34s team that they should backport features from V3 to V2 (unless real bugs are found) just because of the key labels.

The four converted machines are V3! :-) The fifth will remain a V2 for nostalgic reasons.

Well, but then it shouldn't have this print features, because these are V3 only.

It's like you would re-implement WinXP features in the old 16bit-Windows 3.1. ;-)

BTW, you really have 5 machines??? That's simply too much, you could send me at least one of them ... ;-)

but if it had IR printing then it wouldn't be a V2 machine, would it?

I guess Alexander wants an oldtimer with a Ferrari engine. :-)

V3 had no printing features for quite a long time and remained V3 when it got them. So, that could be the same for a V2 calc.

Giving away a WP-34s V3 IR? When being asked so politely and humbly I'm really tempted... ;-)
