Hello!
More or less by coincidence, this week the postman rang twice on two consecutive days and brought me limited editions:
The one to the left was released for The Queen's Silver Jubilee in 1977 and by coincidence I received it within a month of her Diamond Jubilee, 35 years later. Still working. The silver plating needs some cleaning, as there are 35 year old fingerprints on it. If I'm unable to do it properly myself, I will give it to a jeweller for polishing. It works perfecty (just like my other Sinclair Sovereigns, I have black and stainless steel ones so far, only a golden one is now still missing. I anyone is interested, I will trade two HP71Bs for it. Or three.)
As for the 15C, I waited patiently until it became available in Germany. When I saw the price, I ordered it (actually two of them) from that Spanish retailer for 30 Euros less per piece. I could have done that a few weeks ago... As it turns out, the package was sent to me from the Czech Republic. After being bought in Spain, being built in China and being designed in the US. Globalisation has come a long way in 35 years: The Sinclair was designed in England and made in England and maybe even the silver was mined in England.
And by another coincidence, I paid the same amount in Euros (+/- a few) for that Silver Sinclair than for each of those fifteens. Amazing, considering that in terms of rarity they must be at least two orders of magnitude apart.
Regards,
max
