Hi all,
my first generation hp41 does now suffer in the display.
Some of the segments are missing!
Is it possible to repair?
(I am very familiar in microelectronics but do not have any mechanical drawing of the display section of hp41)

Hi, Armin.
I guess some cleaning might help. Check if the picture below gives some guidance. It shows a vintage, first-series HP41 LCD's components.
There are some other pictures in this 'bucket' showing how to remove the earlier, vintage LCD module.

Thanks for the display pics, I´m also in a similar case and they´ll come very handy if I ever decide to take the plunge and do the replacement (my soldering skills are all but acceptable).

Thanks for your Welcome, I appreciate. I actually answered a call from a friend, Gerson, who told me I was mentioned in a recent post related to text fonts. I decided to have a look and, after creating a new account, I posted an answer. As you know, one thing leads to another and I could not help reading a few posts. after reading one post I could contribute I just found myself searching for the pictures at photobucket (user: hewpack_lcv) and posting a reply. My very friends are here, cannot help finding a way to make myself useful.
My activities as a teacher did not leave me any spare time. I'm now 50 Y.O. and I cannot loose track of current technology if I want to survive in the teaching field. If you do not follow it, you are left behind. If you follow it, you are just sustaining pace. If you want to go further then you should act as an R&D worker. I'm just doing my best keeping track of what is going on so my students feel they have a teacher that knows what they want to know and is ready to teach them. A 'Job done!' at the end of each day means the other one will just have different subjects... and challenges.
Sorry, guys, this is way off topic, but I should not simply get in as if nothing happened.
The MLDL2000 pictures are there, too. I guess they are worth checking, though.

Although may seem obvious for those who know the 'creatures', I would just add that the pictures in the left are for the earlier coconut models, and the ones in the right are for the new fullnut units.

Actually I decided to build my units in such a way maintenance would be easier. Well, I tell you that they did not need maintenance so far... Meindert did a great, great job in the MLDL2000 design, and if one follow his instructions, building them is not hard at all.
I built two units almost the same way, and I tell you that it was fun doing it. I added many things not needed in the basic assembly. You can safely build one of these in a few hours given you have the necessary skills, follow the instructions and have all necessary material and tools. I took about two days to build each unit, not counting unscheduled interruptions.
And it was fun, indeed.
