I'm just wondering what the original price of an HP-15C purchased in the UK in 1983 might have been.

I suspect it was a major investment (my father made in me) at the time and curious how it translates to 2011 prices.

from a communication on the same topic:

here are the 1 February 1983 UK recommended retail prices (including 15% VAT):

HP32E £58.18
HP10C £62.65
HP11C £80.56
HP15C £107.41
HP16C £107.41
HP33C £98.45
HP34C £134.26
HP12C £107.41
HP37E £80.56
HP38C £134.26
HP97A £633.77
HP41C £164.78
HP41CV £232.38
41 memory module £22.20
41 quad module/ time module/ extended functions module £66.60
41 card reader £164.78

Many thanks.

IMHO, the investment was rather formativ than material.
The early exposition to RPN shaped my expectation of how well designed engineering work should feel like in the hands of the user/consumer.

That's the "real value" of this investment.

HP15C £107.41

which today is equivalent to at least £266.00, according to MeasuringWorth.com.

I fullheartedly concur d:-)
