i have not seen any classified ads regarding this unit; does
it have any value (just the machine, haven't opened it up yet, or powered it up)?

Don't have anything to say about *collector* value, Barry-- I'd look at it as something very akin to the 9830a, and take your cues from that.

As far as utility, if you've got a use for a calculator that runs an HP instrument Basic, say for controlling some process or interfacing to an Integrator or a set of electronic scales, or a plotter, the 9845 could be a fun project. Lots of 9800-series peripherals-- even the 9880 hard drive. Option roms will be hard to find, but possible. A full-up system, of course, has more value than a naked 9845, so maybe as a collector, you'll want to assemble all the bits and pieces to make it as versatile as possible.

I think a manual or two have turned up on the Museum's CD-ROM collection about it-- you might start by perusing those.

What is a 9845B? I don't see any info about it here in the museum...

It's like a 9825 with a built-in CRT monitor and an 80 column printer (that might have been optional, also 1 or 2 tape drives). The 9835 is like a 9825 with built in video circuitry but not the monitor, has the tape drive and the strip printer (uses an external CRT monitor, only the 9825 had the 32 character LED display). They all use the same interfaces.
