The Museum's page shows the date of introduction for the 12C to be 1981. I thought I bought one in 1980. Does anyone know the actual date of introduction?

From Wlodek Mier-Jedrzejowicz " A guide to HP handheld calculators and computers":
"The HP-12C, also introduced on 1 September 1981, ..." p.71.
The also refers to the HP-11C.

From - HP Key Notes Sept-Dec 1981...

"On Sept 16, 1981, HP released two new ... 11C ... 12C"

"TARDIS Express - When it absolutely, positively has to be there before it was sent."

But seriously, I get emails like this frequently but most people are going off memories. However, if you have some hard data I would be very interested.

My favorite email came from a person who said that I had missed HP's first calculator - coincidentally, the one he worked on. He described it as black with big keys and a square root function and I said that it sounded like an SR-10. He said that that sounded right and I told him that it was made by Texas Instruments. He said no he worked for HP.

A few days later I got an email that said that he had gone through the papers in his attic to prove me wrong, but, um, well, OK, it was TI after all that he worked for.

I imagine it's a lot easier for a memory to be essentially correct but off by a year :-)

I don't know about you folks, but I don't recall having any trouble with my memory . . .

You know there are three things that get worse as you get older: You can't see as well; you can't hear as well; and ..... I can't remember the other one.
