Hello everybody!!

I must to repair my HP41CV and there is no support directly from HP (from many years!!). If somebody can help me where I can take this repair in SPAIN (if possible) will be apreciated

Thanks for all

Ramon

Support is not granted for many years now.

Try the next tricks :
- have you correctly checked you batteries ?
- are your contacts clean ?
- try several times the ON/arrow sequence
- invert polarity, place the battery for a short while, then put the polarity correctly and try the ON/arrow sequence
- open the calculator (4 screws under the rubber feet; beware when you tight them up not to tight them too much; check all contacts, blow up all dust, reassemble the calculator

Most of the presumed dead 41's, unless PCB corrupted, tend to come back to life.

Hi;

Thibaut's guidelines are essential at this point. In fact, describing briefly the problem(s) might help a lot. And another very important question: as you are looking for authorized support, would you be able to fix the calculator yourself? I mean, you did not mention your skills as technician; should we consider you know how to proceed?

Forgive-me if you are an expert, I just want to know if Thibaut's wisdom guidelines will be effective.

Cheers.

Thank's for your answers (Thibaut / Vieira). The problem, more explained, is on the thin panel that connects batery pack with the main board. I forgot bateries on machine for long time and this panel has been damaged. I have clean it (more or less) and I think that may be damaged inside too.
Good think may be that a technic specialist change this panel and revise inside (?¿). But in Spain I am looking for this technics...!!!!....

Thanks for ideas

Ramon
P.D.Sorry my english

Then you're in trouble. If you can't clean the contacts and if they are damaged, well this can be hermfull enough to have the calc definitely damaged.

But there is still a solution. 41C's are quite cheap on ebay or on the classified's ads. You could buy one and easily replace the battery contacts/module contacts board. No soldering at all is needed, only good contacts with the PCB and this board.

And maybe you'lle get some modules with the calc and some manuals... always something good in a bad news !

Thibaut

Hi;

Complementing Thibaut's answer (maybe, there's still a chance...), I'm continuing the thread from here :-)

Try this and this links and read the posts. I believe they will give you an idea of what to do. If you believe a technician will still be needed, print the posts and show him.

And if you still need help, post again.

Cheers.

I will try this ways and ...!!

Thanks sincerely

Ramon

The reverse polarity trick will not help you, the 41C (at least mine) has a series diode which prevents reversed batteries to feed the CPU board and the power supply chip there placed.

The reversed voltage will reach any modules or peripherals you have plugged into the back ports, possibly damaging them; so it is strongly perferrable to unplug any accessory before such testing.

Good luck!
