Don't miss this outstanding sale from our dear cobuba ! an hp-10 with a special 40% rebate !! the original price was $975 (see here) and now the same item is on sale for only $575 !! (see here )

Hurry up, at this exceptionally low price, it may not be long until someone buys it !

Note that the box is missing in the new auction, this may explain the price drop. Expect to see very soon an auction for an empty box for $400 ...

Note also that the description has slightly changed, the display that was showing a "row of flashing decimals" is now showing a "row of running decimals". Maybe he realized that the first description was too honest and that it may give a clue that the calculator is not working at all. Writing "running decimals" is more neutral and may lead more people into believing it's working. Or it's possible that, although he admits "I do not have expertise to test it further", he may have found new synthetic functions for the hp-10 that allows it to program itself automatically so that when you turn it on it runs a new auto-generated program ...

Why doesn't he just advertise a free wallet-lightening service. Send him all your cash and slim down that fat wallet!

He knows damn well that the calculator is broken, but he doesn't admit it.

He mentions the decimals, and that the paper advances until the calc is turned off. To me, this sounds like details of a defective unit. Anyone that's interested in this calculator knows that a row of decimals and continuously advancing paper are not normal for a working unit.

He could say, "Calc has problems," or he could give the details he gave. I would rather have the details. I guess he could have said, "This calc has problems. The display is just a row of decimals, and the paper advances continuously."

Pascal,

I don't feel its fair to make fun of other species that try hard to evolve and make a dollar or two (or three ... or three hundred ... or ...) on eBay. Besides It seems that we all truly misunderstand the hidden meaning and nuance in auction's wording. Kinda like the Da Vinci Code! Those decimals (for Cobubba's kind) are like digits to you and me. The seller is trying to sell a machine to his own kind, and not to you or me, or 99.99999999999% of the folks who visit and contribute to this site. Simply put, the auction you mentioned is not our cup of tea!

Net time you pick on someone selling trash on eBubba, make it someone who has comparable number of brain cells (give or take a few billion cells). Going after single-cell species is just not fair ... not the American way!!!

Say hi to Fantain!!! Is he sitting up yet?

:-)

Hi Namir,

yes Fantin is fine thanks (although not sitting up yet :-(

I agree with you that it wasn't fair, but I wouldn't worry too much for him, I don't think that he was able to understand the 2nd degree sarcasm in my note so he probably didn't feel offended ;-)

I hope to see you next time in Switzerland !

Pascal.

May the buyer beware. I can understand getting excited over an auction (perhaps) but folks have $$ to throw away on other than food and housing and other necissities, good for them too.

The "hurry up" announcement was tongue-in-cheek. $575 was a exorbitant price that was typical of the seller's modus operandi. No one, including the readers here, accepted the offer.
