Like its US counterpart, HP's UPLE (User's Program Library Europe) was rewarding contributors of programs to the library with free programs.

So each accepted submission was rewarded with a coupon worth 4 programs from the library. Each program included documentation, source and a copy of the program on magnetic cards (sometimes, barcode was also available).

Here are the two types of coupons that were issued by UPLE. The newer is shown here

and the older here:

Although the coupons only refer to programs, in the 80s, UPLE allowed authors to use coupons for HP41 accessories. This is how
I got my Wand. Also some huge programs (e.g. Operation Eagle 1) came with a large number of magnetic cards, so they were very popular as a way to exchange coupons for cards (this is how I got most of my magnetic cards :-)

Before people start asking, to the best of my knowledge, the UPLE collection has been lost due to the stupidity of UK customs. They wanted to charge import duty on the contents of the library on the basis of shipping cost (assuming that even if the collection was of no commercial value, it must worth at least the shipping cost). So even though HP had no problem donating everything to the people who were willing to host the collection, the greed of UK customs sunk the project.
