Full Version: Burning Question of great importance: Variables before equations or not?

In the past I would store equations. Say 6 different equations named: Stress Strain Sig. PLAE Interia Moment

Ok. Now each of these guys has about 4 variables. Some of then would be: Sig N P L A E Q Esig Mom I All of these guys are numbers of some sort.

Now in the past, I would order the directory such that the equations appeared first, followed by the variables. That way when I enter the directory I can immediately see what equations I have their by their name. If I needed to recall a variable, I'd just hit the next button once (or twice) until I get to them.

Lately I've been having my variables FIRST in the lineup. That way, when I use the results of one variable for some manual calculations, they are already in the "front row" and are easily accessed. But the drawback is that in order to view my equations, I now need to hit next once or twice (or more often, three times since there are so many variables to scroll through) before I get to the equations.

So I'm just wondering.... how do you guys to it? I'm wondering if the camps are split 50/50, or if people tend to prefer one method over another.

I presume you are using one of the more recent (in the sense of HP48 or later) models. If that is the case, why not build a custom menu for your equations so that you can access them easily with the press of a single key. Then switch to your variables with the VAR key to see your variables (assuming they are ordered first).

Sweet!

Sweet! Sweet sweet sweet!

I would give you my last AAA battery if you needed it.

You could just save that last one for the next two times you buy batteries -- then you'd have an extra set :-)
