HP-49G+ version of Hrastprogrammer's HP-42X nearly finished

Saturday 15th of May 2004

Hrastprogrammer has now nearly finished the HP-49G+ version of his HP-42X emulator. EASY and LITE versions including LOAD/SAVE-functionality (for the LITE version) are now ported to the HP-49G+ and are reported to run at roughly 3x the speed of the original HP-42S. This can be compared to the speed of HP-42X on a HP-48GX which is roughly 1.5x the speed of the HP-42S.

Hrastprogrammer has now started to actively look into the possibility of creating a HP-49G+ version of the HP-42X emulator. This would anew make it possible to emulate the HP-42S on a currently manufactured HP calculator. In addition the increased speed of the HP-49G+ would also benefit the emulation with speeds of the emulated HP-42S - likely to be more than twice that of the real one.

The original HP-49G version came in three flavours - EASY, LITE and EXTENDED. However, given the decreased port memory of the HP-49G+ (the double port memory banks required to run the EXTENDED version have been reduced to a singe port memory bank on the HP-49G+) only the EASY and LITE versions will be considered for transition to the HP-49G+.

So far the EASY version is up and running while the LITE (with the functionality to LOAD/SAVE individual programs) version is currently freezing.
